Good free FFT app.. Mammut
16-04-08 19:13:43

Excellent free sound processor.

Mammut

"Mammut will FFT your sound in one single gigantic analysis (no windows). These spectral data, where the development in time is incorporated in mysterious ways, may then be transformed by different algorithms prior to resynthesis. An interesting aspect of Mammut is its completely non-intuitive sound transformation approach".

Yep, Mammut is FREE and availble on WINDOWS AND MAC OSX with source code for LINUX TOO!

Check the 'prefs' button to turn off the cpu-hungry background and start up sound!

Closely Observed Trains (2007) clips
13-04-08 13:01:26

Hello there. Here are some clips of a portfolio piece made recently that will feature at the RMA Annual Conference 2008 in Aberdeen in July

The piece is called Closely Observed Trains and was made entriely from binaural recordings I made of trains and train journeys....

Binaural material is designed for headphone listening, providing a psuedo-surround effect that is impressive when it works! They work on conventional stereo speakers too.

The following clips are small excerpts of the original, which is nearly 19 minutes in length.

>Clip 1<

>Clip 2<

Thanks.

RMA Annual Conference 2008

The RMA Annual Conference 2008 in association with the IMR

There will be an installation at this conference where you can hear one of my PhD pieces in action. The piece was binaurally recorded and mixed, and addresses one of the conference themes of 'Sound and Space'.

I hope to be attending the conference on the day of my installation (i'm not certain which day it is yet) to answer any questions/defend my efforts. I will be uploading an excerpt of the piece soon! Cheers.

The RMA Annual Conference 2008 will be hosted by the University of Aberdeen on 15 -18 July 2008.

Bidule basics tutorials
28-03-08 13:58:52

I found some nice Plogue Bidule tutorials by a guy called MDK on the plogue forums...

>here<

...that introduce some of the basics of the application, which incidently, is really rather good. I use it a lot for live improvised stuff, but also live, not so improvised stuff, and other sound design stuff... and other stuff.

plogue bidule

Plogue Bidule is a nifty modular audio environment for Windows and Mac OSX. It can work as a stand-alone application, or can function as a vst/i, au or rewire device. wew indeed.
